The ASUS Vivobook Go 14 is only fair for general use, while the Gateway 14.1" is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 14 offers better performance for general use due to its higher RAM and more capable AMD Ryzen CPU, which contribute to smoother multitasking and faster processing, while the Gateway 14.1" has less RAM and a less powerful Intel Celeron CPU that may struggle with demanding tasks. Moreover, the Vivobook Go 14's screen quality, with better brightness and color coverage, provides a more vibrant and clear display than the Gateway, which is essential for an enjoyable viewing experience; however, both devices offer similar portability with compact sizes and closely matched weights.

The ASUS Vivobook Go 14 has a better screen than the Gateway 14.1" for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
If you prioritize a sharp and clear display for activities like browsing, watching videos, or document editing, both the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 and the Gateway 14.1" have screens that suffice for these tasks with their resolution and brightness. However, for engineering and design, where accurate color representation is crucial, neither laptop excels because they lack wide color gamuts required for precise color work. For gaming or 3D rendering, the lower refresh rates on these laptops mean less fluid motion and less responsiveness, which detracts from the visual experience and gaming performance.

How the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 and the Gateway 14.1" compare to other laptops
"The lack of a backlit keyboard in this price segment shouldn't sway the buyer the other way. However, it still comes down to user preference. The Vivobook Go 14 is a decent laptop in an extremely competitive price segment. A few omissions are a part of the balancing to reach the price segment. The Asus Vivobook Go 14 is a rare find when it comes to the price to performance ratio."
"The Gateway Ultra Slim 14" is surprisingly quiet with long battery life. The inexpensive Gateway excels at maximizing performance per dollar with lots of RAM and storage, super-quiet fan, and a long battery life. It can even house up to two M.2 SSDs which we weren't expecting from such a cheap system. However, the iffy reliability of the keyboard and USB-C port on our test unit means users should double-check for these potential issues immediately after purchasing."
