The ASUS Vivobook 16X offers robust performance and a large, high-refresh-rate screen, making it suitable for intensive tasks such as engineering, 3D work, and gaming, but it is also bulkier and more expensive. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is more budget-friendly, lighter, and has a touchscreen, ideal for general use and portability, but it might struggle with performance-demanding applications due to a less powerful processor and graphics. The ASUS Vivobook 16X has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS Vivobook 16X offers a high-resolution display with good brightness and color accuracy, providing sharp images and vibrant colors for everyday tasks and detailed engineering software, but the lower refresh rate limits its appeal to gamers who prefer smoother visuals. Conversely, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 offers adequate resolution and brightness for day-to-day activities and entry-level engineering work but lacks the color range professionals may need and doesn't meet gaming standards due to a modest refresh rate. Both models fall short for gaming and advanced 3D work, where fast refresh rates are crucial for fluid motion.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16X and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 compare to other laptops
"I think the ASUS Vivobook 16X is fantastic. Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
