If your priority is better gaming or running intensive 3D or machine learning software, the Dell G15 5520 with its dedicated Nvidia graphics card will excel, while the ASUS Vivobook 16 will offer you less performance in this regard due to its integrated GPU. For those who prefer portability and longer battery life, the ASUS Vivobook 16's lighter design and longer battery duration are advantages over the Dell. Both have similar storage and RAM, but the Dell G15 leans more towards high-performance applications, while the ASUS is more of a balanced machine suitable for general use. The ASUS is also generally less costly than the Dell G15. Both laptops are not ideal for extensive gaming, despite the Dell G15's slightly better capabilities in this area. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook 16 is good.
The ASUS Vivobook 16, with its AMD Ryzen CPU and Vega integrated graphics, offers solid performance for engineering and design, and its 16:10 screen aspect ratio provides extra vertical space for such tasks. In contrast, the Dell G15 5520 with a high-end Intel CPU and Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU delivers more powerful performance suited to demanding engineering software and better screen refresh rate, though it is heavier with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 may have a resolution and panel type that work fine for browsing and office tasks, but for engineering and design, limited color range can restrict color accuracy in detailed projects; its lower refresh rate can make fast-paced gaming less smooth. On the other hand, the Dell G15 5520's superior panel type and higher resolution contribute to crisper and brighter images that benefit both everyday tasks and detail-oriented work in engineering and design, although like the ASUS, it also falls short in gaming due to a lower refresh rate not ideal for high-speed graphics. Despite their strengths in other areas, neither laptop is optimal for gaming or 3D work where a high refresh rate is crucial for fluid motion and an immersive experience.

The ASUS Vivobook 16 offers a good balance for general use with its capable AMD CPU, sufficient RAM, and high color coverage on its 16-inch IPS screen, making it suitable for tasks that benefit from accurate colors and a large display, along with decent battery life for productivity on the go. The Dell G15 5520, while also equipped with ample RAM and a strong Intel CPU, leans more towards gaming with its high-refresh-rate screen and powerful dedicated Nvidia graphics card, which may reduce battery life but is excellent for performance-intensive tasks.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
