The Dell G15 5520 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 14 offers a lower-tier CPU and less RAM which may result in slower performance for demanding tasks compared to the Dell G15 5520, which has a high-end CPU and double the RAM, enhancing multitasking and speed. While the Vivobook is lighter and boasts better portability and battery life, the G15 5520, though heavier and with less battery longevity, compensates with a larger, higher-quality display and superior heat management, making it better suited for intensive applications and prolonged use.

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 outperforms the ASUS Vivobook 14 in engineering and design use due to its more powerful CPU, double the amount of RAM, higher-end GPU, and greater storage capacity, which all contribute to significantly better performance in resource-intensive tasks. Additionally, while both have similar screen quality, the Dell's larger screen size makes it less portable; however, it also brings an advantage in detailed work prevalent in engineering and design tasks, despite the minor compromise in portability and the increased weight.

The Dell G15 5520 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering a laptop for general use, the Dell G15 5520 provides a more satisfying experience due to its higher resolution and brighter display, which makes for sharper text and brighter images, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 offers a more basic viewing experience that's still adequate for everyday tasks. For engineering and design work, where precise colors matter, the Dell’s better coverage of professional color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB offers more accuracy for color-critical work compared to the Vivobook 14's more limited color range. However, if you're into 3D and gaming, both laptops fall short due to poor refresh rates, though their resolution and panel types provide an acceptable level of detail and viewing angles for less refresh-rate dependent tasks.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
