The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers a good balance for those on a tighter budget seeking a gaming laptop with decent performance. It's heavier and thicker than some alternatives, and while it has a good range of features, its lower price reflects some compromises in performance, storage, and RAM compared to premium models. The MSI Stealth GS77, on the other hand, is a high-end device with much better performance, more storage, and significantly more RAM, making it well suited for intensive gaming, 3D work, and engineering tasks. However, it comes at a notably higher price and still has only moderate portability due to its weight and size. If cost is a major factor for you, the ASUS may be the appropriate choice, but if maximum performance for demanding applications is crucial and you're willing to invest more, the MSI is the superior option. The MSI Stealth GS77 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, a laptop with a clear display, good resolution, and brightness provides a comfortable viewing experience, and both ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and MSI Stealth GS77 deliver on these aspects, offering crisp and vivid visuals for everyday tasks. However, for engineering and design, professionals require a wider color spectrum for accuracy, and the MSI Stealth GS77 stands out with its superior color gamut coverage, resulting in more precise color representation needed in those fields. On the other hand, while gaming and 3D applications benefit from high refresh rates for smoother action, neither laptop excels in this regard, with both offering lower refresh rates that could affect the fluidity of fast-paced visuals.

"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The MSI Stealth GS77 is better than the GS76... mostly. The GS77 is a few steps forward and a few steps back from the GS76. Improvements are numerous including the stronger and more rigid skeleton, higher resolution webcam, larger clickpad, easier serviceability, relatively similar battery runtimes, newer display options, and higher performance at about the same TDP and TGP levels as before. CPU performance is better than expected even when compared to other laptops with Core i7 or Core i9 processors. The newer model feels more substantial than the outgoing one for higher quality impressions as well."
