The ASUS TUF Gaming F17, priced in the lower midrange, generally costs less and is a good choice for gaming with its dedicated Nvidia GPU, making it suitable for intensive gaming and tasks like 3D rendering, but it weighs more and has shorter battery life. On the other hand, the LG Gram 17, costing a bit more, offers significantly better portability due to its lightweight design and much longer battery life, as well as a higher resolution display and more RAM for improved general and engineering use, but with its integrated GPU, isn't ideal for heavy gaming or tasks relying on graphics performance. The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has a better screen than the LG Gram 17 for gaming and AI, while the LG Gram 17 has a better screen for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17's display may not offer the high refresh rate needed for smooth gaming and 3D rendering, but its resolution and brightness make it adequate for everyday tasks and certain engineering applications. The LG Gram 17, with its superior screen resolution and brightness, provides detailed and vibrant visuals both for daily productivity and color-critical engineering work, though it lacks the fast refresh rate gamers require for optimal gaming performance. Both screens fall short for gaming and 3D due to lower refresh rates, but the LG's coverage of color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB ensures accurate color representation for professional design tasks.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the LG Gram 17 compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The LG Gram 17 is a light office laptop with a large display and great battery life. The newest incarnation of the Gram 17 can be classified as a model update. LG uses the predecessor's compact, light magnesium case along with an identical port configuration (including 2x Thunderbolt 4) and keyboard. Changes can be found in the hardware. With the Gram 17 (2022), LG offers a light (approx. 1,350 g), mobile work device - and finally with a matte display."
