The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and Lenovo Slim 7 16 have different strengths. The ASUS TUF comes with a robust gaming appearance suitable for intensive gaming; however, its large screen size and heavier weight affect portability. It is also priced higher and has a shorter battery life compared to the Lenovo Slim 7. On the other hand, the Lenovo Slim 7 offers a better battery life, higher screen resolution, touch capabilities, and a lighter, more portable design, making it well-suited for general use, business applications, and higher quality media consumption due to its superior screen characteristics. For those needing to tackle demanding engineering tasks or use machine learning applications though, the ASUS with its higher performance-focused hardware may still be more suitable despite being less portable and having shorter battery life. The Lenovo Slim 7 16 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has a good balance of resolution and brightness appropriate for typical tasks and video watching, but its color range may not sufficiently cover the broad spectrums needed for precision in engineering and design tasks. The Lenovo Slim 7 16 boasts a display with higher color accuracy and wider color gamut, making it ideal for professionals who rely on true-to-life color representation for their work. However, for gaming and 3D applications where fast refresh rates are crucial to keep up with rapid movements and provide smoother visuals, both laptops fall short as they prioritize resolution and panel quality over high refresh rates.

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17's Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU and 144Hz screen refresh rate make it a capable gaming and 3D machine, but the Lenovo Slim 7 16, with its similarly competent Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU, outshines with a sharper screen and higher 165Hz refresh rate which can result in smoother visuals. However, the Lenovo also benefits from a better screen quality including higher resolution and brightness, which can enhance visual experience, but this might be coupled with a higher price tag compared to the ASUS model.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the Lenovo Slim 7 16 compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"At $1,011, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Pro is a real bargain among full-sized laptops, with a handsome 16-inch, 16:10 aspect ratio touch screen, a speedy CPU, a comfortable keyboard, ample memory, and a roomy solid-state drive. It's not a blazing gaming rig or mobile workstation, but it doesn't pretend to be. Its biggest negative is that it may be hard to find—during our review, it sold out and was marked "Temporarily Unavailable" on Lenovo's site."
