When deciding between the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the Lenovo Legion 5 15", consider your priority between screen size and portability. The larger screen of the ASUS may be more immersive for gaming and multimedia, but also means the laptop will be bulkier and possibly heavier. If a smaller footprint and easier transport are important, the Lenovo is more compact. For gaming or intensive tasks, also consider the tradeoff between expense and performance; the ASUS being pricier could indicate better gaming performance or premium features. However, Lenovo Legion laptops are known for good performance and build quality, potentially offering better value for money if the price difference is significant and the specs are comparable. Assess battery life too, as gaming laptops often have shorter battery life due to their powerful components. Lastly, consider the build quality, keyboard comfort, and thermal management, which are crucial for long gaming sessions. Always check for reviews to see how each model fares in real-world use. When considering general use, the Lenovo Legion 5 stands out with its sharper resolution and better brightness, making for a more vibrant and clear display compared to the ASUS TUF Gaming F17. For engineering and design, the Legion's coverage of color gamuts ensures colors are represented more accurately, which is crucial for detail-oriented work. The Lenovo Legion 5 15" and ASUS TUF Gaming F17 are both good for general use.
The Lenovo Legion 5 15" offers a better experience for general use primarily due to its superior main processor, double the amount of RAM, and higher-quality screen which includes better resolution, brightness, and color coverage when compared to the ASUS TUF Gaming F17, which has a smaller battery and less portable design with a heavier weight and larger screen size, although it has longer battery life. Furthermore, Lenovo's model has better keyboard and overall build quality, contributing to its higher suitability for general use, despite ASUS's model having better heat management and fan noise handling.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the Lenovo Legion 5 15" compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."
