The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 offers better performance, particularly for gaming or engineering tasks due to its more capable graphics card. It has a larger screen and higher refresh rate, which might be beneficial for such applications but comes at the cost of reduced portability. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" is more affordable and much more portable, making it a better choice for general use and everyday tasks. It also has a longer battery life, but it will not handle intensive tasks or gaming as well as the ASUS. The IdeaPad lacks a backlit keyboard and dedicated graphics, which could be limiting if you work in low-light conditions or need to run graphics-heavy programs. Give Feedback

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" are both only fair for gaming and AI, though the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is somewhat better.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 with its Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti and a high refresh rate display is suited for gaming and 3D applications, offering good graphical performance and smoother visuals; however, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 with its integrated AMD Vega graphics and a standard refresh rate screen provides moderate capability for gaming and 3D tasks, but expect less graphical fidelity and fluidity in comparison.

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" are both only fair for engineering and design, though the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is somewhat better.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is equipped with an Intel i5 processor, RTX 3050 Ti graphics, and an IPS display, making it more suitable for demanding engineering and design tasks, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 has an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with integrated Vega 7 graphics and a similarly capable display, but falls short on the graphical power required for intensive use cases. Additionally, while the IdeaPad offers better portability and has higher scores for portability and operating noise, the ASUS F17's superior CPU, GPU, and larger screen enable a more robust performance for professional applications.

The ASUS TUF Gaming F17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" has a better screen for content creation.
For general use, the ASUS TUF Gaming F17's better resolution and brightness offer a clearer and more vivid display compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad 3, which has a sufficient display but doesn't stand out. In engineering and design, both laptops have decent displays that cover a fair amount of the color gamut, but neither is exceptional, which is crucial for accurate color work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the ASUS' screen falls short as its refresh rate isn't high enough for smooth visuals, and while the Lenovo also isn't suited for these tasks, its limitations align with its positioning as a general-use laptop.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14" compare to other laptops
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
"The low-priced IdeaPad 3 14 delivers on core functionality. Lenovo's IdeaPad 3 14 meets all the basic requirements for an inexpensive office laptop. The matte IPS display is bright enough, the performance is high for the class, and the input devices are rock solid. In addition, the mostly quiet operation including the useful performance modes, cool surface temperatures, easy maintainability as well as expandable working and mass storage all contribute to the IdeaPad 3 14's value proposition."
