The ASUS TUF Gaming F15 is less expensive and offers good performance for general use, 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering, with a solid battery life making it suitable for portable use. It also has a high refresh rate and full HD resolution but a less powerful CPU and GPU compared to the MSI option. The MSI Raider GE78, while more costly, boasts higher specs with a more powerful processor, twice the storage and RAM, superior graphics, a bigger and higher resolution display, and improved scores in all mentioned performance areas. It also has a slightly better battery life but is heavier, making it less portable. If high performance for heavy tasks is a priority and you don't mind the extra weight and cost, the MSI may suit you better, but for a balance of performance, portability, and price, the ASUS is a strong option. The MSI Raider GE78 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS TUF Gaming F15, with its adequate resolution and brightness, meets the needs for everyday tasks and visibility in various lighting conditions, which is beneficial for general use. Engineering and design professionals require accurate color representation, and this laptop's mediocre coverage of color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB makes it less ideal for those specific tasks. However, its lower refresh rate hampers the immersive and fluid experience expected in Gaming and 3D applications, where visuals need to be not just clear, but also fast and responsive.

"Aside from all the chassis updates, the new TUF Gaming is most notable for its much higher TGP target of 140 W compared to only 95 W on the previous generation. PC makers everywhere are using the same GeForce GPUs this year since Nvidia has yet to launch the successor to the mobile RTX 3000 series. The more demanding processors of the new TUF Gaming has directly impacted battery life and the size of the AC adapter. Don't expect runtimes to be longer than on the previous generation under most conditions and be prepared to carry around an even larger AC adapter than before."
"Performance-wise, the GE78 offers a significant boost over the GE77 for just slightly higher power consumption. You'll have to get the RTX 4080 or 4090 configurations to see the performance advantages, however, as the RTX 4070 is closer in performance to the older RTX 3080 Ti. In terms of design, some users might prefer the 16:9 minimalistic look of the older GE77 over the 16:10 retro-inspired GE78 and vice versa. We wouldn't call one better than the other in terms of aesthetics, but we'll give the edge to the GE78 for its stronger hinges and larger keys and clickpad."
