As a laptop store sales manager, I can provide you with some general advice to help you make a decision. The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and Dell G15 5520 serve similar purposes but have different strengths. The ASUS TUF Gaming A16, being slightly less expensive, may offer a more budget-friendly option while still delivering ample performance for gaming and general use. However, the Dell G15 5520, while potentially costing more, might offer certain enhancements in performance, build quality, or features that justify the extra expense. Consider how portability plays into your decision; gaming laptops can be heavier and bulkier than general-use ones, thus if you plan to carry the device frequently, the weight and size might matter to you. Also, the battery life can differ substantially between models, with gaming laptops historically having shorter battery life due to their powerful components. Lastly, if you need the laptop for tasks beyond gaming, such as 3D modeling, machine learning, or other engineering software, ensure the laptop you choose has the required specifications to handle those workloads efficiently. How the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"The A16 makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
