For a balance of performance and portability, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is a strong choice with its high-end processor and graphics card, making it ideal for gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning tasks. However, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, which might not be as convenient for on-the-go use. On the other hand, the Gateway 14.1" offers better battery life and is much more lightweight and portable, suitable for general use and everyday tasks, but it falls short in performance and doesn't support intensive applications or gaming. Consider the Asus for its superior performance and screen quality if you prioritize these over portability and battery life. If you need a laptop for basic tasks and value longevity on a single charge and ease of transport, the Gateway would be the better option. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | September 2021
"The Gateway Ultra Slim 14" is surprisingly quiet with long battery life. The inexpensive Gateway excels at maximizing performance per dollar with lots of RAM and storage, super-quiet fan, and a long battery life. It can even house up to two M.2 SSDs which we weren't expecting from such a cheap system. However, the iffy reliability of the keyboard and USB-C port on our test unit means users should double-check for these potential issues immediately after purchasing."
