The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 offers top-notch performance suitable for gaming and resource-intensive tasks like 3D rendering and machine learning, with a high refresh rate screen that enhances fast-motion visuals. Given its size and powerful components, it's less portable and has a moderate battery life. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 is more budget-friendly and offers decent performance for general use, with a lighter build and better battery life, apt for on-the-go productivity, but it isn't intended for gaming or heavy-duty tasks, and its display, while adequate for everyday use, falls short for specialized applications. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 is equipped with a more powerful Intel i9 processor, a superior Nvidia RTX GPU, and a higher RAM capacity, making it well-suited for demanding engineering and design tasks, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a less robust AMD Ryzen processor with integrated Vega 8 graphics and less RAM, which provides satisfactory performance for less intensive applications but may struggle with more complex engineering and design workloads. Additionally, the ASUS boasts a higher-quality screen for precise visuals, whereas the Lenovo trades off some performance and screen quality for better portability and battery life.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
If you prioritize a clear and sharp display for day-to-day tasks such as web browsing and office work, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 may provide better resolution and brightness. For those engaged in engineering and design fields, the ASUS's wider color gamuts ensure more accurate color representation which is essential for such precise work. However, for gaming and 3D tasks where fluid motion is key, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" may not be ideal due to its lower refresh rate, while the ASUS, despite its better overall screen quality, may not offer the high refresh rate typically sought after by gamers.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
