The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 is better suited for intensive gaming and high-performance engineering tasks with superior processing power and better support for hardware ray tracing and DLSS, but it's less portable and more expensive. Conversely, the Dell G15 5520 is more budget-friendly and more portable with a lower price and a lighter build, still offering decent performance for general use, 3D rendering, and machine learning but not as high as the ASUS. The battery life of the ASUS is slightly better, and both machines have similar screen sizes and resolutions without touch capability, but the ASUS has a higher screen refresh rate. Both laptops come with the same amount of storage and RAM, and each has a backlit keyboard, though the lighting color differs. The Dell's portability and price make it a solid choice for general use and moderate gaming, whereas the ASUS excels in demanding situations where performance is the priority. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
For general use, both the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 and Dell G15 5520 offer displays that provide clear images and bright, vibrant colors due to their resolution and panel technology, making them suitable for everyday tasks like browsing and video streaming. In engineering and design, screens that reproduce a wider range of colors accurately are essential, and both these laptops have displays covering significant portions of professional color gamuts, which is vital for precise color work. However, for gaming and 3D tasks which demand smooth motion, the importance of a high refresh rate becomes apparent, and in this aspect, these laptops may not perform as well, resulting in less fluid visuals during fast-paced scenes.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
