The ASUS ROG Strix G17 generally costs slightly more but offers a more powerful processor, better GPU, and higher battery capacity, making it suitable for intensive tasks like 3D rendering or gaming, although it's heavier and less portable. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is slightly less expensive, lighter, and thus more portable, with longer battery life, but has less storage and a less powerful GPU, which may not perform as well for demanding tasks. The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 likely offers a high-resolution display with good brightness and an advanced panel type that ensures sharp and vivid images for general use and detailed visuals needed in engineering and design, but it may have a lower refresh rate which is less ideal for the fast-paced visuals in gaming and 3D applications. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 likely also has a quality screen with sufficient resolution and brightness that caters well to everyday tasks and professional work where color accuracy is crucial, but similarly to the ASUS, it may not have a high enough refresh rate to satisfy the demands of gaming and 3D content creators. Both laptops prioritize color fidelity and clarity over smooth motion, making them less optimized for gaming and 3D scenarios where quick image refreshes are crucial for an immersive experience.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
