The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is priced higher and offers superior performance, ideal for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering tasks, thanks to its powerful processor and advanced graphics card. However, its larger screen and heavy build affect portability. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is more affordable, lighter, and has a longer battery life, which makes it highly portable and suitable for general use. Its performance for general tasks is adequate but not for intensive applications. If you prioritize gaming or demanding workloads and don’t mind the extra weight, go for the ASUS. If you prefer affordability, longer battery life, and a device for lighter tasks, choose the Lenovo. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 are both good for general use, though the ASUS ROG Strix G17 is somewhat better.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers a superior CPU, more RAM, and a higher quality display, which contributes to its classification as good for general use, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, with its more modest CPU, less RAM, and lower screen resolution, is rated fair for general use. The trade-off here is that the ASUS has poorer portability due to its larger size and shorter battery life compared to the more portable Lenovo, which offers longer battery life.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 outshines the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for engineering and design due to its robust AMD Ryzen 9 CPU, a powerful Nvidia RTX GPU, abundant RAM, and a superior screen that delivers higher resolution and color accuracy, factors crucial for designing precision and running engineering software. The IdeaPad Slim 3, while lighter and potentially more portable, offers more modest performance with a lower-end Ryzen 3 CPU, integrated Vega graphics, less RAM, and a less impressive screen, aspects that limit its ability to handle demanding engineering tasks and intensive design work.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers a vibrant and high-resolution display that is ideal for general use and engineering, where color accuracy and clarity are critical. However, its subpar refresh rate may detract from the smooth visuals desired in high-paced gaming and 3D applications. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 provides a decent display for everyday tasks and non-professional engineering work, but lacks the advanced color ranges and swift refresh rates needed for high-end design work and immersive gaming experiences.

"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
