The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers high performance for engineering tasks, gaming, and 3D applications; however, it's less portable due to its larger size and weight. On the other hand, the Gateway 11.6" is much more budget-friendly, very portable, and sufficient for general use but falls short in demanding tasks like gaming or engineering. The ASUS has superior display quality and size, more storage and RAM, and is intended for demanding tasks. In contrast, the Gateway is suitable if you prioritize affordability, portability, and modest computing needs over high performance and advanced features. Choose the ASUS if performance is a priority or Gateway for basic tasks and portability. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Gateway 11.6" is poor.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is excellent for gaming and 3D owing to its high-end Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and a 240Hz screen refresh rate for fluid visuals, whereas the Gateway 11.6" falls short in these areas with a basic Intel UHD Graphics 600 GPU and only a 60Hz refresh rate, which means less smooth graphics.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Gateway 11.6" is poor.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is well-suited for engineering and design due to its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 CPU, 16 GB of RAM, high-quality Nvidia RTX GPU, and superior screen with high resolution and color accuracy; on the other hand, the Gateway 11.6" falls short for these tasks because of its less capable Intel Celeron CPU, 4 GB of RAM, basic integrated GPU, and lower resolution screen. Additionally, although the Gateway is more portable and has a quieter operation, it compromises on keyboard and speaker quality which are somewhat important for an overall user experience.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Gateway 11.6" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers a high-resolution display with excellent brightness and color accuracy, making it suitable for tasks like document editing and professional design work where detail and color representation are crucial. However, its lower refresh rate may not be ideal for gaming or 3D applications where fluid motion is prioritized. On the other hand, the Gateway 11.6" has a display with lower resolution and brightness, which makes it less suitable for both everyday tasks and specialized work in engineering or design, plus its refresh rate is not optimal for 3D applications.

"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
