The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is well-suited for intensive gaming, while the Dell XPS 15 is more of a premium business laptop, with a gaming laptop appearance. The ASUS model has powerful components for high performance in 3D rendering, and machine learning tasks, but is less portable due to its larger size and heavier weight. The Dell XPS 15, on the other hand, offers better portability, with a smaller and lighter design, making it suitable for general use and engineering, though it may not match the ASUS in raw gaming performance. If you prioritize gaming or heavy computational tasks, consider the ASUS, but if you value portability with decent performance for productivity, the Dell could be the better option. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Dell XPS 15 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 boasts a superior Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and a notably high screen refresh rate of 240 Hz, making it very suitable for immersive gaming and smooth 3D rendering. On the other hand, the Dell XPS 15 is equipped with an Intel Arc A370M GPU and a standard 60 Hz screen refresh rate, offering decent performance for gaming and 3D applications, but at a level below that of the ASUS for highly fluid visuals.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 and Dell XPS 15 are both very good for engineering and design, though the ASUS ROG Strix G17 is somewhat better.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 stands out for engineering and design with its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 processor and Nvidia RTX GPU, providing strong performance for demanding tasks and a higher refresh rate screen, which is ideal for detailed visuals; however, it is heavier and less portable than the Dell XPS 15, which offers competent engineering capabilities with its Intel i7 processor and Intel Arc GPU, greater portability, and a high contrast ratio screen that delivers sharp visuals, albeit with a lower refresh rate than the ASUS.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the Dell XPS 15 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the Dell XPS 15 has a better screen for content creation.
For general use, the ASUS ROG Strix G17's high resolution and brightness make it appealing, while the Dell XPS 15 balances a slightly lower brightness with a crisp display, both providing a comfortable viewing experience for everyday tasks. In engineering and design, the ASUS pulls ahead with superior color range, enhancing precision in visual tasks, whereas the Dell also offers accurate colors but isn't as extensive in its gamut coverage. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the ASUS's refresh rate falls short, which is critical for smooth motion, but the Dell, with a similar shortfall, would also disappoint those looking for fluid graphics in high-speed scenes.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the Dell XPS 15 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The 2023 Dell XPS 15 is more or less exactly what you'd expect from the company flagship. Its fresh components deliver measurably superior power and longevity, while the machine's premium build and design remain intact. It may not be overly exciting, but XPS loyalists and upgraders should be more than happy."
