If you're looking for high performance for tasks like video editing or graphic design, the Apple MacBook Pro has a strong reputation for these. However, it usually comes at a higher price and with a focus on portability and battery life over gaming capability. If gaming or price is a priority for you, the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is more cost-effective and specifically designed for gaming, meaning it will handle gaming graphics and processing better, but it is heavier and may have shorter battery life, making it less ideal for carrying around. The Apple MacBook Pro 16 has a better screen than the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 for general use, AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Pro 16's display boasts high resolution and brightness along with excellent color reproduction, making it suited for general use and very appealing for engineering and design because it covers a wide range of color gamuts. However, its refresh rate isn't high enough to be ideal for 3D applications where smooth motion is key. Conversely, the ASUS TUF Gaming F17, while offering a good general-use display, lacks the superior color gamut coverage required for high-level engineering and design tasks, and despite being a gaming laptop, the screen's refresh rate does not meet the top-tier standards required by the latest 3D games.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 16 (Late 2019) and the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Pro 16 2023: M2 Max challenges GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. The new MacBook Pro 16 2023 with the M2 Max SoC is the most powerful laptop Apple has on sale right now. While we do not get the expected performance and efficiency improvements from completely new 3 nm chips, which we expected ahead of the launch, the 2023 model is still a solid update. The CPU of the M2 Max can be up to 20 % faster than the old model and we also see an advantage of 25-30 % for the GPU with 38 cores. However, both components also consume more power, so the efficiency did not change that much under maximum load."
"One of the Asus TUF Gaming F17’s highlights is without a doubt its excellent gaming performance. The fact that Asus configured the RTX 3060 GPU for its specified maximum of 140 W is became immediately noticeable in our benchmarks. For a 17-inch notebook the F17 also offers a very long battery life, which makes it somewhat portable. On the flip side is the display. It may be saved by its good overall contrast ratio, but its overall brightness is simply too low, and its response times are too slow for a gaming device. The F17’s successor needs to improve upon this."
