For general use, the Apple MacBook Air (2020) is more portable, has a higher-quality build, and offers a quieter operation since it's fanless. Its screen has a higher resolution with better color accuracy, making it suitable for tasks where visual quality matters. On the other hand, the Dell G15 5520 is a better choice for gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning, due to its more powerful Intel processor and Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card. However, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, which could be a drawback if mobility is a priority. It has additional features like a blue backlit keyboard and hardware ray tracing support, making it more tailored for gaming and high-performance tasks. Give Feedback

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the Apple MacBook Air (2020) is good.
The Dell G15 5520, with a higher-performing CPU, double the RAM, and a superior dedicated GPU, excels in engineering and design tasks, particularly those requiring intensive graphics, while its larger and more color-accurate screen aids in detailed visual work. In contrast, the Apple MacBook Air (2020) offers a high-resolution screen and fanless operation for a quieter environment, but falls behind in raw performance due to its integrated GPU and lesser RAM, making it less suited to demanding engineering simulations and complex design applications.

The Apple MacBook Air has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, and engineering and design, while the Dell G15 5520 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The MacBook Air, with its high-resolution Retina display, offers crisp visuals and bright colors ideal for general use and engineering tasks that require accurate color representation, but its standard refresh rate limits its 3D capabilities. The Dell G15, while also providing a high-resolution display suitable for general use and precise color work essential in engineering and design, falls short for gaming and 3D applications due to its lower refresh rate not keeping pace with the fast-moving visuals these tasks demand. Both laptops are less optimal for 3D and gaming not just due to refresh rates, but also because the panel types might not be as responsive as those specifically designed for these high-intensity visual tasks.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2020) and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
