The MacBook Air is less expensive and has a higher battery life, making it a good choice for general use and portability. It offers silent operation and is lighter, which enhances its mobility. However, the ASUS Vivobook 16X, even though slightly pricier and heavier, comes with more storage, twice the RAM, and a better graphics card, making it suited for more intensive tasks like 3D rendering and gaming. So, if performance for engineering or gaming is your priority, the Vivobook could be the better option despite its added weight and lower battery life. Give Feedback

The ASUS Vivobook 16X is good for gaming and AI, while the Apple MacBook Air (2020) is only fair.
The Apple MacBook Air (2020) has a less powerful integrated GPU and a standard 60Hz refresh rate, making it fair for 3D applications but not optimized for high-end gaming or intensive 3D work. Conversely, the ASUS Vivobook 16X is equipped with a stronger dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU and a higher 120Hz refresh rate screen, enhancing gaming and 3D performance; additionally, the operating system on the ASUS supports a wider range of games compared to the limited compatibility on macOS.

The ASUS Vivobook 16X is very good for engineering and design, while the Apple MacBook Air (2020) is good.
The ASUS Vivobook 16X is favored for engineering and design due to its higher-end Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU, compared to the Apple MacBook Air's Apple M1 chip; additionally, the Vivobook offers more RAM and a larger screen for complex tasks. While the Apple MacBook Air is lighter and has a higher-quality display, which makes it more portable and visually accurate for design work, its hardware may not handle intensive engineering applications as well as the ASUS Vivobook 16X.

The Apple MacBook Air has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16X for general use, engineering and design, and software development, while the ASUS Vivobook 16X has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The Apple MacBook Air's screen boasts impressive resolution and brightness, which enhance visibility and clarity for general tasks, while its strong color accuracy benefits engineering and design work; however, its modest refresh rate limits its appeal for 3D applications. The ASUS Vivobook 16X offers similarly solid resolution and brightness, providing a satisfying experience for everyday use and detailed design tasks, but it's not tailored for gaming due to its standard refresh rate. Both laptops are not ideal for 3D work or high-end gaming, as they lack the high refresh rates essential for smooth motion and fast-paced visuals.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2020) and the ASUS Vivobook 16X compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
"I think the ASUS Vivobook 16X is fantastic. Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop."
