The Acer Aspire 3 14 is a budget-friendly option that offers decent performance for everyday tasks, and it's lighter in weight, making it more portable. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" carries a higher price tag but provides better performance, particularly for tasks like 3D rendering or machine learning due to the more powerful processor and extra RAM. It also has a larger display, which is better for multitasking and media consumption, but this also results in it being heavier, which might affect portability. Both laptops have similar storage capacities and screen resolutions. If you prioritize performance and larger screen size over budget and portability, you may prefer the Lenovo; if cost savings and a lighter weight are more important, then the Acer might be the right choice for you. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" has a better screen than the Acer Aspire 3 14 for general use, and engineering and design.
For general use, both the Acer Aspire 3 and the Lenovo IdeaPad's screens have adequate resolution and brightness, which are key for activities like browsing and watching videos, but they may lack the superior panel technology that would make them stand out. In engineering and design tasks where precise colors are crucial, neither laptop's screen covers the wider color gamuts like DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB, leading to fair quality for professional work that demands color accuracy. When it comes to 3D and gaming, the importance of high refresh rates for smooth motion is not addressed by these laptops, and while resolution and panel type contribute to visual clarity, they don't compensate for the lack of fluidity in fast-paced visuals.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" to be only fair for gaming and AI, while the Acer Aspire 3 14 is poor.
The Acer Aspire 3 14 has a moderate GPU (AMD Radeon 610M) and a standard screen refresh rate which makes it fair for gaming and 3D work, but may not handle the most demanding games smoothly. Similarly, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is equipped with the integrated graphics of its CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 5700U Vega 8) and also offers a standard screen refresh rate, making it just fair for such tasks, as the combination can run less intensive games adequately but might struggle with high-end gaming and complex 3D content.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" and Acer Aspire 3 14 are both only fair for engineering and design.
The Acer Aspire 3 14 with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and Radeon 610M GPU is fair for engineering and design due to a balanced CPU and entry-level GPU performance which may limit complex tasks, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" houses a more robust AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and its accompanying Vega 8 graphics which along with more RAM, makes it slightly better suited for demanding engineering software but still may struggle with intensive 3D work. Both have adequate screen quality for design work, but neither may satisfy users needing to run highly intensive simulations or graphical tasks that demand top-tier hardware; additionally, factors such as portability and heat management are well-handled, but those prioritizing quieter operating noise may prefer the silent operation of the Acer.

How the Acer Aspire 3 14 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
