For a balance of performance and portability with a higher quality display suited for detailed work, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (2024) is a strong contender. It offers a more advanced processor and GPU, which translates to superior performance in demanding tasks like gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning. The higher resolution screen with better color accuracy and a faster refresh rate will enhance your visual experience, making it ideal for engineering tasks and entertainment. However, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life compared to the MSI Pulse GL66. On the other hand, if you prioritize battery life and portability over raw performance, the MSI Pulse GL66 might be the way to go. It's lighter, thinner, and offers longer usage on a single charge, which is beneficial for general use and productivity on the move. While its display isn't as sharp or color-accurate as the Lenovo, it still provides a good visual experience for everyday tasks. The MSI's older generation processor and GPU mean it won't perform as well in intensive tasks, but it's more than capable for general use and some light gaming. Give Feedback

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."

NotebookCheck

Christian Hintze | April 2022
"The MSI Pulse GL66 has a lot of potential for improvement. Although the RTX 3060 is only able to use 105 watts, we still liked the gaming performance, particularly since this also makes the Pulse comfortably efficient but not slow by any means. Neither the dark display with its lame response times, nor USB 2.0 or the lack of Thunderbolt will please real gamers. The use of a sticker factory seal, which is at least questionable, also won't inspire any enthusiasm. It is obvious that the laptop is really designed for price-conscious gamers."
