The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro offers a more advanced processor and a superior graphics card, which translates into better performance for gaming or demanding tasks like video editing and 3D rendering. It also features a higher resolution screen with a greater aspect ratio, which could enhance your viewing experience for both work and entertainment. On the downside, it's less portable due to its greater weight. Conversely, the MSI GP66 Leopard is lighter, making it easier to carry around, but it has an older processor and a lower screen resolution. If budget allows and performance is a priority, especially for heavier computing tasks, the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro is an excellent choice; however, if portability and saving money are more important, then the MSI GP66 Leopard could serve you well for general usage and gaming. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i has a better screen than the MSI GP66 Leopard for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and software development.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5i offers a display with high resolution and brightness, which enhances visibility and clarity for everyday tasks, making it very good for general use. However, for engineering and design, while it likely has a wider color gamut covering DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, which is vital for accurate color work, its gaming and 3D performance is limited by a lower refresh rate. Conversely, the MSI GP66 Leopard's display, while good enough for general use and providing adequate color space for professional design work, also falls short for gaming and 3D content due to a less optimal refresh rate.

How the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i and the MSI GP66 Leopard compare to other laptops
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
"The MSI GP66 Leopard is a good budget high-performance gamer. The MSI also does a lot right outside of the pure performance despite it's low price. For example, the adaptive cooling system really surprised us positively, even in Extreme Performance Mode. And the display is not a budget panel either, but at least outshines the competition in terms of brightness. Of course, you also have to accept a few compromises in this price category. These include the Leopard's poor battery runtimes and the less than optimal build quality, which is also noticeable in the more complicated maintenance."
