The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" offers a display that's suitable for everyday tasks with adequate resolution and brightness, but for engineering and design, its limited color range can't provide the precise color accuracy professionals need. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i steps up with a higher-quality display offering better brightness and color representation, making it more fitting for tasks that demand color accuracy like photo editing or graphic design. However, neither model is tailored for gaming or 3D work due to modest refresh rates, which means they lack the smooth visuals and responsiveness sought after by enthusiasts and professionals in those fields.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i and Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" with an AMD Ryzen 7 Vega 8 GPU and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i with an Intel Iris Xe GPU both have integrated graphics and standard screen refresh rates, which limit their performance and smoothness in gaming and 3D tasks compared to laptops with dedicated gaming GPUs and higher refresh rates. Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i to be good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is only fair.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i provides a better experience for engineering and design due to its higher RAM, more capable CPU and GPU, and superior screen quality with better color coverage and contrast ratio; this makes complex tasks and precise graphical work smoother and more visually accurate. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" falls short in performance and display quality despite being very comparable in terms of portability and having a slightly quieter operation noise.

How the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i compare to other laptops
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15" is affordable and pretty efficient. At the end of the day, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is one of the better affordable laptops money can buy right now. It has a decent performance, albeit coming from a CPU that is based on old architecture. Playing low-intensity games is possible but at low to medium settings. We are really happy with the cooling setup, but the main event here is the battery life. We got 9 hours of either Web browsing or video playback, which is a great result. Especially if you compare this device with the ASUS E410."
"Among Lenovo's multiple laptop brands, the IdeaPad family is decidedly the one designed for consumers: people who want decent performance at a reasonable price. Consider, then, this laptop a paragon for the pickier members of that crowd. With a 14-inch touch-enabled display, a comfortable keyboard, an Evo-certified Intel Core i7 11th Generation CPU, and the latest Windows 11 operating system, the IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro ultraportable ($1,199 as tested) is a slick mainstream machine at a bit of a premium price, and quite capable for everyday tasks."
