If cost is a major concern and you are looking for a laptop that can handle gaming or graphics-heavy applications, the HP Victus 15 offers a good value. However, if you prioritize a more rugged build, better keyboard, and potentially longer battery life for business or travel, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is more suitable, even at a higher price. The ThinkPad also typically offers more professional features, which could be beneficial for work environments, but for casual use or if gaming is a priority, the HP might be the better choice. How the HP Victus 15 and the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
"We like a lot about this laptop. It has many ports, with the inclusion of RJ45-Ethernet as a defining feature. WWAN is upgradable for maximum flexibility and the ThinkPad has many security functions. Working with the ThinkPad input devices is a lot of fun, and Lenovo puts in a serviceable Low Power panel. The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U delivers a great performance and does not drain the battery fast. Fan noise and temperatures are nothing special, but also far away from bad. With the user replaceable keyboard, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 has a special feature rarely present on most modern laptops."
