If you prioritize performance for intensive tasks such as 3D modeling, machine learning, or high-end gaming and don't mind spending more, the HP Omen 17 with its powerful processor and high-end graphics might be the better choice, despite being less portable due to its size and weight. However, if you're looking for a balance between performance and portability, and would like to save some money, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a compelling option, offering good performance, a higher battery capacity, and a thinner, lighter design that's easier to carry around, although its graphics capabilities are a step behind the HP's. How the HP Omen 17 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16" compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
