The HP Envy 17 is pricier but offers powerful performance with better suitability for intensive tasks such as engineering, thanks to its higher RAM and advanced Intel processor. It features a larger screen and higher battery capacity but is heavier, making it less portable than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3. The IdeaPad Slim 3 is more budget-friendly, weighs less, making it easier to carry, and has greater battery life, but with lower RAM and an AMD Ryzen processor, it's less suited for demanding applications and multitasking. For general use and portability, the IdeaPad Slim 3 is a sensible choice; for higher performance in more resource-intensive tasks, the HP Envy 17 stands out. Give Feedback

The HP Envy 17 has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, the HP Envy 17 provides satisfying viewing with its higher resolution and bright display, whereas the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3's adequate resolution and brightness offer a fair experience. Engineering and design tasks benefit from the HP Envy 17's wider color coverage, rendering it better for accurate visual work, while the IdeaPad Slim 3's color range is sufficient but not ideal for professional color work. When it comes to gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to the lower refresh rates that can't match the smooth visuals demanded by these tasks, despite their acceptable resolution and panel types.

How the HP Envy 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 compare to other laptops
"In our test, the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng presents itself as a balanced multimedia laptop. Thanks to its solid CPU performance and dedicated entry-level GeForce, it can also be used for playing video games, as long as the demands aren't too high. Those looking for more can find it in the Dell XPS 17 for example."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
