The HP Envy 17 and Lenovo Flex 5 16 are similarly priced and share some features like screen size and storage. The HP Envy has a larger screen and a number pad on the keyboard, making it preferable for productivity tasks, but it's also heavier, which affects portability. The Lenovo Flex 5 has a higher screen resolution and slightly longer battery life, alongside a touchscreen with a 2-in-1 design for tablet-like use. It's lighter than the HP Envy, making it easier to carry around. If you prioritize a larger display and number pad, go for the HP Envy, but if portability and a sharper screen are more important, the Lenovo Flex should be your choice. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Flex 5 16 has a better screen than the HP Envy 17 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The HP Envy 17 and Lenovo Flex 5 16 have panels with adequate resolution and brightness which satisfies general use and engineering needs; however, their refresh rates aren't high enough to meet the demands of 3D applications and gaming. Engineering and design users benefit from their good color accuracy covering wider color gamuts, crucial for professional creative work. But both lack the high refresh rates that enhance the smoothness and responsiveness, essential in 3D work and gaming, where fast-moving visuals are common.

The HP Envy 17 and Lenovo Flex 5 16 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The HP Envy 17 and the Lenovo Flex 5 16 are both fair for gaming and 3D tasks because their integrated graphics, although capable, won't handle intensive gaming as well as dedicated GPUs and both have standard screen refresh rates. The HP Envy 17's larger screen offers a more immersive experience but at a lower resolution, while the Lenovo's display is sharper due to higher resolution, and its slightly higher screen quality provides better viewing angles and color reproduction.

How the HP Envy 17 and the Lenovo Flex 5 16 compare to other laptops
"In our test, the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng presents itself as a balanced multimedia laptop. Thanks to its solid CPU performance and dedicated entry-level GeForce, it can also be used for playing video games, as long as the demands aren't too high. Those looking for more can find it in the Dell XPS 17 for example."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 is a solidly equipped, 2-in-1 in the lower price segment. Performance is definitely sufficient for everyday tasks and in tests the battery proved itself to be very economical. That aside, there is a lot of standard fare on show and a search for real highlights ends in vain. The low color coverage and reflective display can be avoided by going for an optional 2.5K display but this also presumably results in poorer battery life. The cooling uses only one fan and leads to a raised temperature on one side of the device under load. Additionally, there is very loud fan noise, also under load or when gaming. On top of that, we also occasionally noticed electronic noises."
