The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is often slightly less expensive and is a premium business laptop with very good battery life and high portability; it's excellent for general use, but its performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering tasks is good but not the highest. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" is a bit more expensive and serves as a more powerful gaming-focused laptop, offering better performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering applications; however, it's heavier, which may impact portability, and has a lesser battery life. The HP has a slightly smaller, higher-resolution display which provides more workspace and sharpness, better suited for business and productivity tasks, while the Lenovo, with its larger screen and higher refresh rate, provides a smoother visual experience, making it better for gaming and multimedia consumption. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" is good for gaming and AI, while the HP EliteBook 845 G9 is only fair.
The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 excels in gaming and 3D applications due to its Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card and a high screen refresh rate, which the HP EliteBook 845 G9 with its AMD Radeon 660M and standard refresh rate lacks, making it only fair for such tasks. The Legion Slim 7's superior GPU provides better frame rates and graphics quality in gaming, while the higher refresh rate of its screen results in smoother visuals, which are key in fast-paced games, compared to the EliteBook's modest gaming capabilities.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 has a better screen than the HP EliteBook 845 G9 for general use, and gaming and AI.
For general use, a well-balanced combination of panel type, resolution, and brightness ensures that text is crisp and visuals are clear across various lighting conditions, which both HP EliteBook 845 G9 and Lenovo Legion Slim 7 provide. In engineering and design tasks where color accuracy is paramount, the inclusion of wide color gamuts like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB is crucial, and these laptops meet these requirements to deliver true-to-life colors. However, for gaming and 3D applications where fluid motion is key, their lower refresh rates may not provide the smoothest visual experience, despite having adequate resolution and panel quality.

How the HP EliteBook 845 G9 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" compare to other laptops
"The high-end version of the HP EliteBook 845 G9 with a Ryzen 9 PRO 6950HS, 32GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD packs a lot of power, but is still quiet and cool enough to operate in noise-sensitive environments. Quiet, cool and drawing on a massive 40 watts from the APU at the same time, however, is not possible. The 14-incher only has a single-fan solution and it only just manages to keep an near unthrottled Ryzen 9 in check."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
