The HP 17" Laptop, with its larger screen and more RAM, is well-suited for multitasking and productivity tasks that benefit from a spacious display. However, its AMD integrated graphics are less powerful compared to the HP Victus 15, which features a dedicated Nvidia graphics card, making the Victus more appropriate for gaming and graphics-intensive applications. The 17" Laptop is also heavier and larger, so if portability is a concern, the smaller Victus might be preferable. Furthermore, the Victus has a higher refresh rate screen, which is better for smooth visuals in gaming. Battery capacity is larger on the Victus, potentially offering longer usage between charges. If your work involves complex graphics or you enjoy gaming, the Victus 15 would be a better choice, while for productivity tasks with a desire for a larger screen, the HP 17" Laptop would be more fitting. The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the HP 17" Laptop for general use, and gaming and AI.
For general use, the HP 17" laptop's screen may not be as sharp or vibrant due to lower resolution and brightness, whereas the HP Victus 15 has a better balance of these features, providing a more pleasant viewing experience. When it comes to engineering and design work, color accuracy is crucial, and the HP 17" may not cover as wide a color gamut as needed, making the HP Victus 15 with its satisfactory color performance more suitable for such tasks. However, for 3D and gaming, the importance of a high refresh rate becomes significant for smooth visuals, and neither laptop excels in this area, with both offering likely suboptimal refresh rates, impacting the responsiveness and fluidity of graphics.

How the HP 17" Laptop and the HP Victus 15 compare to other laptops
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
