If you're after a budget-friendly and highly portable device for basic tasks like web browsing, document editing, and streaming, the Gateway 11.6" would serve these needs well. However, if you require more power for gaming, design work, or other resource-intensive applications, the HP Victus 15, with its higher price, likely offers better performance and a larger screen for these demanding tasks. Keep in mind, the Gateway's smaller size and likely lower power consumption could translate to better portability and possibly longer battery life compared to the HP Victus 15, which may be heavier and have a shorter battery life due to its increased performance capabilities. The HP Victus 15 is good for general use, while the Gateway 11.6" is poor.
The Gateway 11.6" is limited by its basic Intel Celeron CPU, 4GB RAM, and lower resolution screen, which may hinder multitasking and clarity, making it less suitable for general use compared to the HP Victus 15, which is powered by a more capable Intel i5 processor, has double the RAM, and a higher resolution display for better performance and visuals. Additionally, the HP Victus 15 has a larger and higher quality screen, better build and heat management, and includes extra features such as a backlit keyboard, enhancing the overall user experience for general use.

The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the Gateway 11.6" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Gateway 11.6" likely has a low-resolution display with limited brightness, which would make it less suitable for any use where screen clarity is key, such as general use or detailed work in engineering and design. The HP Victus 15 probably offers a higher resolution and better brightness, providing a more comfortable and clearer viewing experience for general tasks and engineering software, but the color representation might not be as precise, affecting complex design work. For gaming and 3D applications where fast motion is common, the HP Victus 15's potentially lower refresh rate could hinder a smooth visual experience, even with a better resolution and panel type compared to the Gateway.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
