The Dell Inspiron 15 3525 is a budget-friendly option that will save you some money while providing a dependable Ryzen 5 processor suitable for general use and moderate multitasking. If you prioritize a touch screen and longer battery life, it's a suitable choice for everyday tasks and media consumption. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15, while more expensive, offers a more powerful Intel i5 processor and Nvidia RTX graphics, making it a better option for gaming, 3D applications, and more intensive engineering tasks; however, it comes at the cost of heavier weight and potentially shorter battery life. Consider the primary use of your laptop: if it's for performance in more demanding applications, the HP Victus 15 would be a better choice, though if you're looking for a lightweight laptop for general use and a more attractive price, the Dell Inspiron might be more suitable. The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 15 3525 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
For general use, the HP Victus 15 stands out with a brighter display and higher resolution, offering clearer and more vibrant visuals, while the Dell Inspiron 15 3525's screen might seem less vivid. When it comes to engineering and design, neither laptop delivers the wide color gamuts professionals seek for precision, but the HP's better resolution still provides an edge. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both fall short, as neither has a high refresh rate necessary for smooth motion, even though the HP's slightly better resolution and panel may offer a more enjoyable viewing experience.

The HP Victus 15 and Dell Inspiron 15 3525 are both only fair for engineering and design.
The Dell Inspiron 15 3525 is considered fair for engineering and design use largely because of its AMD integrated graphics, which are less powerful than a dedicated GPU like the HP Victus 15's Nvidia RTX 3050, providing better performance for graphics-intensive tasks. Additionally, while both have comparable screen sizes and quality, the HP Victus 15 is heavier and less portable than the Dell Inspiron 15 3525, which may be a consideration for those who value mobility.

How the Dell Inspiron 15 3525 and the HP Victus 15 compare to other laptops
"Dell's Inspiron 15 (3525) is a peppy-enough and affordable-enough home or remote work machine, but it's not very ambitious; it does little to go beyond the basics. More the concern: It’s readily overshadowed by a number of machines that outperform and outclass it. Even if the Inspiron can get the job done today, its competition has the mettle to keep doing the job tomorrow in a way the Inspiron simply can’t promise. Many of its slightly higher-end rivals have to be on sale (and frequently are) to match it on price, but the Inspiron 15 (3525) is outclassed even by some similarly priced options, making it a difficult recommendation."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
