For high-performance tasks like gaming or intensive engineering software, the Dell Alienware X17 R2 is better equipped with its top-tier graphics card and robust processor. However, it's pricier and less portable due to its bulkier build and heavier weight. Conversely, the LG Gram 17 trades off some performance for remarkable portability, being lightweight with a longer-lasting battery, and it's less expensive. If everyday tasks, travel-friendliness, and battery life are top priorities, the LG Gram 17 would suit you well, but if you need maximum performance for demanding applications and are okay with a premium price and less portability, the Alienware is the way to go. How the Dell Alienware X17 R2 and the LG Gram 17 compare to other laptops
"The Alienware x17 R2 recognizes targets a significantly higher TGP of 175 W for a roughly 30 percent performance boost over laptops running on the ~100 W GeForce RTX 3080 Ti like the Razer Blade 15 or Gigabyte Aero YE5. Similar results can be found through the CPU as well. This single aspect of the Alienware is perhaps the biggest differentiating factor between it and other ultrathin gaming laptops. Of course, the "performance at all cost" approach comes with drawbacks. Power consumption in particular is through the roof and battery life suffers because of it even when on the lowest performance settings."
"The LG Gram 17 is a light office laptop with a large display and great battery life. The newest incarnation of the Gram 17 can be classified as a model update. LG uses the predecessor's compact, light magnesium case along with an identical port configuration (including 2x Thunderbolt 4) and keyboard. Changes can be found in the hardware. With the Gram 17 (2022), LG offers a light (approx. 1,350 g), mobile work device - and finally with a matte display."
