The HP Omen 17 is geared towards gaming and intensive applications, with a robust graphics card suitable for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering software; however, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life. On the other hand, the LG Gram 17 is much lighter, making it highly portable with a longer battery life, and is equipped with ample RAM and storage for general use and productivity tasks; but it lacks the powerful dedicated graphics card found in the HP Omen 17, which makes it less suitable for performance-heavy gaming or professional graphics work. The LG Gram 17 is very good for general use, while the HP Omen 17 is good.
The HP Omen 17 provides strong performance for a range of tasks due to its high-power CPU and robust graphics card but is less portable and has shorter battery life compared to the LG Gram 17, which offers excellent portability, a large amount of RAM for multitasking, and superior battery life, making it very good for everyday general use. While the HP Omen has a higher screen refresh rate beneficial for gaming, the LG Gram's display offers a higher resolution and better color accuracy, contributing to its very good rating for general use.

The HP Omen 17 is excellent for gaming and AI, while the LG Gram 17 is only fair.
The HP Omen 17 is very good for gaming and 3D because of its powerful Nvidia RTX 4080 graphics card and a high screen refresh rate of 165Hz, which allow for smoother visuals and detailed rendering in fast-paced games. In comparison, the LG Gram 17 has a less powerful Intel Iris Xe graphics and a standard refresh rate of 60Hz, which still supports gaming but may not handle the most intensive 3D tasks as effortlessly.

The HP Omen 17 and LG Gram 17 are both very good for engineering and design, though the HP Omen 17 is somewhat better.
The HP Omen 17 is favored for engineering and design due to its more powerful GPU and CPU, which are crucial for compute-intensive tasks, although it is heavier and less portable. In contrast, the LG Gram 17, while still good for such tasks with ample RAM and a decent CPU, stands out for its lightweight design and portability but falls short in GPU performance for the most demanding engineering applications.

The HP Omen 17 has a better screen than the LG Gram 17 for general use, and gaming and AI, while the LG Gram 17 has a better screen for content creation, and software development.
The HP Omen 17, with its vivid resolution and brightness, offers a clear and crisp display for general use and sufficient color gamut support for engineering and design, but its lower refresh rate hinders the smooth visuals critical for high-end gaming and 3D rendering. The LG Gram 17's screen provides sharp images and good color reproduction, making it suitable for general tasks and professional design work where color accuracy is key, yet it too falls short for gaming due to a less than optimal refresh rate. Both laptops, while excellent for productivity and creative tasks, wouldn't be the ideal choice for gamers or professionals in fields that demand high frame rates for the best visual performance.

How the HP Omen 17 and the LG Gram 17 compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"The LG Gram 17 is a light office laptop with a large display and great battery life. The newest incarnation of the Gram 17 can be classified as a model update. LG uses the predecessor's compact, light magnesium case along with an identical port configuration (including 2x Thunderbolt 4) and keyboard. Changes can be found in the hardware. With the Gram 17 (2022), LG offers a light (approx. 1,350 g), mobile work device - and finally with a matte display."
