Considering your needs, the ASUS Zenbook 14X is often significantly less expensive, offers longer battery life, and is lighter, making it more portable. It has an OLED display and ample performance for general use and some light engineering tasks. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is often significantly more expensive due to its higher performance capabilities, especially in 3D rendering, machine learning, and more intensive engineering use with its advanced GPU. It also has more storage, a higher RAM capacity, a touchscreen, and hardware features for ray tracing, making it well-tailored for gaming and creative professionals. Choose the ASUS for a balance of price and portability or the Microsoft if performance and higher-end features outweigh cost considerations. Give Feedback

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is good for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Zenbook 14X is only fair.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 performs better in gaming and 3D than the ASUS Zenbook 14X primarily due to its more powerful Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, which is better suited for demanding graphics tasks, and a higher screen refresh rate of 120 Hz for smoother visuals. Conversely, the Zenbook 14X is equipped with a less capable Nvidia MX550 GPU and a lower refresh rate of 90 Hz, though it offers quality visuals through its OLED display.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 is very good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Zenbook 14X is good.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 stands out for engineering and design due to its more powerful GPU, twice the RAM, and a higher-resolution flexible display that also functions as a drawing tablet, making it highly suited for intensive tasks like 3D modeling and rendering, albeit at a higher weight which affects portability. In comparison, the ASUS Zenbook 14X, while still capable with a high-quality OLED screen and a decent processor, has less RAM and a less powerful GPU which may be less optimal for the most demanding engineering software but offers a lighter, more portable option for everyday design work.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 for general use, and engineering and design, while the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 has a better screen for content creation, and software development.
If you prioritize a clear and sharp display for everyday tasks like browsing and document editing, both the ASUS Zenbook 14X and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 offer excellent screens with top-notch resolution and brightness. For engineers and designers who need accurate color representation, these laptops provide wide color gamuts, making sure your designs appear as intended. However, if you're into gaming or 3D applications where smooth motion is key, the lower refresh rates on these screens may not deliver the fluid visuals you're looking for, despite their other impressive display qualities.

"With the Zenbook 14X, Asus has a 14-incher in its range that is - mostly - a joy to use. First, there is the colorful OLED panel with 3K resolution that displays the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. The Zenbook is also at the forefront in terms of workmanship, input devices and connections with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a generous keyboard layout. A pleasure to use, the Zenbook 14X is a solid, very well-built subnotebook that sits well on the table. A runtime of five hours, however, is below average for a high-end subnotebook nowadays. The OLED screensaver causes increased power consumption when in idle mode."
"The new Surface Laptop Studio with its foldable display is supposed to replace the old Surface Book and the overall impression is good after our review. The build quality and the materials are top-notch, the performance utilization of the two components is solid and the device does not show any major flaws in terms of display or speakers, either. The folding mechanism leaves a sold impression as well, but it remains to be seen how it will hold up over the years. The so-called presentation mode is also not ideal since it covers the whole keyboard."
