The ASUS Zenbook 14X is somewhat less expensive, more portable due to its lighter weight, and it has a high-resolution OLED screen, which is ideal for vibrant colors and contrast, suitable for general use and good performance in engineering tasks. However, its performance for 3D applications and gaming is limited. On the other hand, the HP Omen 15 is slightly more expensive, offers better performance for gaming and 3D/machine learning tasks with its powerful graphics card, and has a larger screen, but it's heavier and has a standard IPS display with a lower resolution, which might not be as color-rich as the Zenbook's. The HP Omen 15 is good for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Zenbook 14X is only fair.
The HP Omen 15 offers superior gaming and 3D performance compared to the ASUS Zenbook 14X due to its significantly more powerful graphics hardware and higher screen refresh rate, which provide smoother visuals and enhanced responsiveness in games. While the Zenbook features a quality OLED display, the Omen's combination of a GPU that's higher-end and a refresh rate that allows for more frames per second make it the better choice for gaming and 3D applications.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X has a better screen than the HP Omen 15 for general use, and engineering and design, while the HP Omen 15 has a better screen for software development.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X boasts a high-resolution display that provides sharp and vivid images for day-to-day tasks and detailed engineering work, and its superior color accuracy enhances tasks like photo editing and design. However, its lower refresh rate can detract from the immersive experience required for high-end gaming and 3D applications. On the other hand, the HP Omen 15, while offering a solid experience for general tasks and engineering with good color representation and adequate resolution, also falls short for gaming and 3D content due to a refresh rate that isn't suited for the fastest motion graphics.

The HP Omen 15 and ASUS Zenbook 14X are both good for engineering and design.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X is suitable for engineering and design due to its high-resolution OLED screen, which offers improved color accuracy and contrast, paired with a competent Intel i7 processor and Nvidia MX550 GPU for handling demanding software. Contrarily, the HP Omen 15 is equipped with a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU for more intensive engineering tasks, alongside a larger display, albeit with lower resolution, making it better for graphical work that requires high performance, at the expense of a slight dip in screen color fidelity and quality.

How the ASUS Zenbook 14X and the HP Omen 15 compare to other laptops
"With the Zenbook 14X, Asus has a 14-incher in its range that is - mostly - a joy to use. First, there is the colorful OLED panel with 3K resolution that displays the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. The Zenbook is also at the forefront in terms of workmanship, input devices and connections with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a generous keyboard layout. A pleasure to use, the Zenbook 14X is a solid, very well-built subnotebook that sits well on the table. A runtime of five hours, however, is below average for a high-end subnotebook nowadays. The OLED screensaver causes increased power consumption when in idle mode."
"We consider around 1,260 Euros (~$1530) for a Ryzen 7 4800H, a GeForce RTX 2060, a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB dual-channel RAM to be a good offer that appeals to price-conscious gamers. Very high details are rarely a problem in the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Buyers will also be spoiled with a top-notch battery life that even beats most other notebook classes. If HP now improves the speed of the WLAN module, the stability of the case and the repeatedly criticized picture quality, the competition will have to dress extra warmly."
