If you prioritize a lightweight and portable device with an OLED screen for vibrant colors and prefer spending less, the ASUS Zenbook 14X should suit you well. However, for higher gaming or engineering needs with better graphics due to a more powerful GPU, and a longer battery life, the Gigabyte Aorus 7 is the better option, albeit at a higher cost and with reduced portability due to its larger size and weight. The Gigabyte Aorus 7 is good for gaming and AI, while the ASUS Zenbook 14X is only fair.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X, with an Nvidia MX550 GPU and a respectable 90Hz screen refresh rate, delivers fair gaming and 3D performance, whereas the Gigabyte Aorus 7, equipped with the higher-end Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and an exceptional 360Hz refresh rate, offers a superior gaming experience, especially for fast-paced games that require quick screen updates. While both laptops have solid CPUs and good screen quality, the significant difference in GPU power and refresh rates between the Zenbook and the Aorus 7 is what sets the Aorus 7 apart as better suited for gaming and 3D applications.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X has a better screen than the Gigabyte Aorus 7 for general use, and engineering and design, while the Gigabyte Aorus 7 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X offers superior display resolution and brightness, enhancing the visual experience for general use and for detailed work in engineering and design, where its wide color gamut accurately represents colors. However, its lower refresh rate limits the smoothness of fast-paced 3D content, making it less ideal for gaming. The Gigabyte Aorus 7, while providing good resolution and acceptable color representation for engineering tasks, falls short with its modest brightness for general use and lacks the high refresh rate needed for optimum 3D gaming experiences.

The Gigabyte Aorus 7 and ASUS Zenbook 14X are both good for general use.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X is ideal for general use with its lightweight design, OLED screen with high color accuracy, and moderate battery life, making it easy to carry and comfortable for viewing, but its less powerful graphics and limited battery life compared to some alternatives may not suit the most demanding tasks. The Gigabyte Aorus 7, while less portable due to its larger size and weight, provides superior gaming capabilities with its high-performance graphics card and advanced heat management, alongside a larger screen and longer battery life, which is perfect for intensive applications and multitasking but might be less convenient for on-the-go use.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Gigabyte Aorus 7 to be very good for engineering and design, while the ASUS Zenbook 14X is good.
The ASUS Zenbook 14X offers solid CPU, sufficient RAM, and an average GPU suited for design tasks alongside an excellent OLED screen with high color accuracy, making it a viable option for engineering and design work that's also highly portable. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aorus 7 boasts a stronger CPU and a significantly more powerful GPU, pairing with a large screen that, while less color-accurate than the Zenbook's, provides a smoother experience with higher refresh rates for intensive engineering applications, at the expense of greater weight and bulk, reducing portability.

How the ASUS Zenbook 14X and the Gigabyte Aorus 7 compare to other laptops
"With the Zenbook 14X, Asus has a 14-incher in its range that is - mostly - a joy to use. First, there is the colorful OLED panel with 3K resolution that displays the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. The Zenbook is also at the forefront in terms of workmanship, input devices and connections with 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a generous keyboard layout. A pleasure to use, the Zenbook 14X is a solid, very well-built subnotebook that sits well on the table. A runtime of five hours, however, is below average for a high-end subnotebook nowadays. The OLED screensaver causes increased power consumption when in idle mode."
"The Gigabyte Aorus 7 is a gaming laptop that is pitched at perhaps the hardest market to get right: the mid-range. So, unlike high-end gaming laptops that can throw the latest and greatest components together in a bid to attract gamers with plenty of money to spend, or budget gaming laptops that can make wise cuts that are justified as long as the price is low enough, mid-rangers like the Gigabyte Aorus 7 have to balance the two."
