For general use, the Lenovo LOQ 16i offers better performance due to its more powerful processor and dedicated graphics card, which also makes it suitable for gaming and some machine learning tasks. However, it's pricier and has a smaller screen than the ASUS Vivobook 17, which might be a drawback if you value screen size for productivity or entertainment. The ASUS, with its larger 17.3-inch display, is great for those who prefer a bigger screen for work or media consumption, but it falls short in performance compared to the Lenovo. The Lenovo's higher RAM capacity makes it more efficient at multitasking and handling more demanding applications, which is beneficial for engineering tasks. Although the ASUS has a number pad, which might be appealing for data entry or calculations, the Lenovo compensates with better overall performance and a more modern design. In terms of portability, the ASUS is bulkier and heavier, making the Lenovo a better choice if you need to carry your laptop around frequently. The Lenovo also has a higher refresh rate screen, which contributes to smoother visuals, especially in fast-moving images or gaming scenarios. Considering battery life, both laptops offer around 6 hours of typical usage, so there's no clear advantage there. Ultimately, if you prioritize performance and portability, the Lenovo LOQ 16i is the way to go, but if you need a larger screen and are on a tighter budget, the ASUS Vivobook 17 could be the right choice for you. Marvin Gollor | May 2022
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."

Christian Hintze | September 2023
"Gaming laptops with an RTX 4060 are available starting from about 1,000 Euros (~$1,060), even in 16-inch format. For the supposedly affordable Lenovo LOQ 16 (1,500 Euros, ~$1,591), the manufacturer particularly saves in the equipment and materials compared to the more expensive Legion series. In addition, the LOQ is slightly heavier and more bulky. What remains is anything but a laptop full of difficult compromises. Instead, this is a more than solid gaming laptop that focusses on the 3D performance.Q is slightly heavier and more bulky."
