Deciding between the ASUS Vivobook 17 and the Dell Precision 5470 involves considering what's most important for you. The Vivobook 17 is a budget-friendly option with a larger 17.3-inch screen, suitable for everyday tasks, but its performance is modest compared to the Precision 5470. On the other hand, the Precision 5470, while more expensive, provides superior performance, an advanced GPU suitable for 3D work, machine learning, and better build quality. It has a smaller 14-inch display, which makes it more portable, and a longer battery life, making it a better choice for intensive tasks and on-the-go use. If your priority is high performance and portability for engineering, 3D work or machine learning, the Dell Precision 5470 is the better choice, but if you're looking for a cost-effective, larger-screen laptop for general use, the ASUS Vivobook 17 would be sufficient. NotebookCheck

Marvin Gollor | May 2022
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2022
"The Dell Precision 5470 is a mobile workstation that's far more portable than most alternatives. Between its slim 14-inch design and top-quality MIL-STD 810H build, it's one of the best options around for taking professional-grade performance on the road or to the job site. There are tradeoffs for its portability, and users of the most demanding, graphics-intensive applications will need to carry something heavier. But the Dell's exceptional battery life underscores its desirability as the most portable workstation we've seen."
