The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is a more powerful option with a high-end processor and graphics card, making it suitable for gaming, 3D rendering, and intensive engineering tasks; however, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life. The LG Gram 17, on the other hand, offers more storage, a larger screen, extremely lightweight design, and longer battery life, making it ideal for general use and portability, but it’s less capable for demanding tasks due to its less powerful processor and integrated graphics. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is very good for gaming and AI, while the LG Gram 17 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is very good for gaming and 3D due to its higher end GPU and a screen refresh rate that is significantly higher, which provides a smoother visual experience. On the other hand, while the LG Gram 17 is good for these tasks with a competent GPU and standard screen refresh rate, it doesn't quite match the ASUS in graphical performance or screen smoothness.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 and LG Gram 17 are both very good for engineering and design, though the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is somewhat better.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16, with a high-end CPU and dedicated GPU, is excellent for engineering and design as these components accelerate complex computations and visualizations, while the LG Gram 17 offers a good balance with a capable but less powerful CPU and an integrated GPU, thus being less suited for highly demanding tasks but excellent for everyday use and extended battery life. Additionally, while the ASUS has a higher screen refresh rate and GPU, which contribute to smoother visuals and better handling of graphics-intensive work, the LG Gram prioritizes portability and a larger screen, albeit with lower overall performance.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 has a better screen than the LG Gram 17 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design, while the LG Gram 17 has a better screen for content creation.
For general use, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16's screen combines high resolution and brightness, leading to sharp images and clear visibility in various lighting conditions, while the LG Gram 17's slightly less bright screen still offers crisp visuals due to its own high resolution. In engineering and design, the ASUS excels with a wide color gamut that ensures accurate color representation, an attribute the LG Gram also supports to a slightly lesser extent, making both suitable for professional creative work. However, for gaming and 3D, the ASUS's lower refresh rate can lead to less fluid motion compared to specialized gaming laptops, a limitation shared by the LG Gram, making neither ideal for fast-paced gaming where high frame rates are crucial.

How the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 and the LG Gram 17 compare to other laptops
"The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is not yet as optimised as its predecessor. Compared to the previous gen, performance and efficiency have improved significantly. What's more, the wonderful, Mini-LED Nebula display is a contender for the main highlight and almost manages to put the CPU and GPU in the shade. We already found its predecessor to be a well-rounded and well-optimised gaming machine. Generally, but not unequivocally, that also applies to the new Asus M16. Similar to most of the current, new laptops, we are dealing with a double generational leap in terms of the CPU and GPU. However, this change doesn't always run smoothly."
"The LG Gram 17 is a light office laptop with a large display and great battery life. The newest incarnation of the Gram 17 can be classified as a model update. LG uses the predecessor's compact, light magnesium case along with an identical port configuration (including 2x Thunderbolt 4) and keyboard. Changes can be found in the hardware. With the Gram 17 (2022), LG offers a light (approx. 1,350 g), mobile work device - and finally with a matte display."
