For a balance of performance and portability, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is a strong contender with its high-speed processor and superior graphics card, making it ideal for engineering tasks and gaming, though it comes at a higher price point. Its excellent display with a high refresh rate and color accuracy is a plus for creative professionals and gamers alike. However, if you're looking for a more cost-effective solution without sacrificing too much on performance, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (2024) offers similar RAM and storage capacities, and while it has a slightly less powerful processor, it still delivers robust performance for general use and gaming. The Legion Pro 5i also includes an Ethernet port and facial recognition for added convenience, but it's heavier and has a lower battery life compared to the ASUS. Ultimately, choose the ASUS for top-tier performance and a premium build with better portability, or the Lenovo for solid performance with a focus on value and connectivity features. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Christian Hintze | March 2023
"The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is not yet as optimised as its predecessor. Compared to the previous gen, performance and efficiency have improved significantly. What's more, the wonderful, Mini-LED Nebula display is a contender for the main highlight and almost manages to put the CPU and GPU in the shade. We already found its predecessor to be a well-rounded and well-optimised gaming machine. Generally, but not unequivocally, that also applies to the new Asus M16. Similar to most of the current, new laptops, we are dealing with a double generational leap in terms of the CPU and GPU. However, this change doesn't always run smoothly."

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
