For a balance of performance and portability, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is a strong contender with its powerful i9 processor and RTX 4070 graphics, making it suitable for demanding tasks like gaming and engineering work. It offers a high-quality display with a 240Hz refresh rate and excellent color coverage, which is great for fast-paced action and color-critical tasks. However, it comes with a higher price tag and is slightly heavier.
On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 (2024) provides a more cost-effective solution with a midrange price, without sacrificing too much on performance thanks to its i9-14900HX processor and RTX 4060 graphics. It has a robust build and a similarly high-refresh-rate display, but with lower color accuracy, which might not be ideal for professional photo editing. It also includes more RAM, which can be beneficial for multitasking and memory-intensive applications. The Legion 5 is a bit bulkier and has a shorter battery life compared to the Zephyrus, which could impact its portability.
Ultimately, if you prioritize top-tier performance in a more portable design and are willing to invest more, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is the way to go. However, if you're looking to save some money while still getting solid performance and don't mind a larger, heavier laptop with less battery life, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 (2024) is a practical choice. How the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 and the Lenovo Legion 5 16 (2024) compare to other laptops
"The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is not yet as optimised as its predecessor. Compared to the previous gen, performance and efficiency have improved significantly. What's more, the wonderful, Mini-LED Nebula display is a contender for the main highlight and almost manages to put the CPU and GPU in the shade. We already found its predecessor to be a well-rounded and well-optimised gaming machine. Generally, but not unequivocally, that also applies to the new Asus M16. Similar to most of the current, new laptops, we are dealing with a double generational leap in terms of the CPU and GPU. However, this change doesn't always run smoothly."
