The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is a top-tier gaming and engineering laptop with unparalleled performance, thanks to its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card. It's equipped with a high-refresh-rate 2560 x 1440 display, making it ideal for fast-paced gaming and detailed visual work. However, its larger size and weight make it less portable, and it comes with a premium price tag. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook 16X offers a more balanced approach, suitable for general use and moderate gaming or creative tasks with its Intel i7 processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU. It has a larger, high-resolution screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio, which is great for productivity. The Vivobook is more compact and lighter, making it a better choice if you need to carry your laptop around frequently. It also has a more attractive price point, though it sacrifices some performance and screen refresh rate compared to the ROG Strix. If portability and budget are your primary concerns, and you don't need the highest performance for intensive tasks, the Vivobook 16X is the way to go. However, if you're looking for the best possible performance for gaming, 3D rendering, or engineering tasks and don't mind a bulkier, more expensive laptop, the ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is the superior choice. Kok Kee | February 2023
"I think the ASUS Vivobook 16X is fantastic. Great performance, decent battery life, good keyboard and trackpad, and a massive screen – just that the screen quality itself is kinda subpar. If you’re okay with the screen, then I think this is an okay laptop. However, I’d like to see a price drop."
