When choosing between the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2, consider that the ASUS is designed for gaming and demanding applications, offering superior performance at a higher cost and likely a heavier build, which reduces portability. In contrast, the Surface Laptop Go 2 is more affordable, lighter, and very portable with better battery life, suited for everyday tasks and light productivity, but it won't handle intensive tasks as well as the ASUS. If you need a laptop for general use on the go, the Surface Laptop Go 2 is a practical choice, but if performance for tasks like gaming or engineering is a priority and you don't mind the extra expense and weight, opt for the ASUS. NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | March 2023
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."

NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | August 2022
"The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 review is a compact companion with old hardware. The Surface Laptop Go 2 shows some weaknesses. Microsoft didn't really develop the second generation of the Surface Laptop Go 2 any further but has only equipped it with a slightly more powerful Core i5 processor. However, the performance still remains at a fairly low level overall, but for many users, it definitely should still be sufficient for everyday tasks."
