For a balance of performance and portability, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i is a strong contender. It offers a high-quality display with a 165Hz refresh rate and excellent color accuracy, making it suitable for gaming and general use. While it's slightly less powerful than the ASUS, it's also more compact and lighter, enhancing its portability. The ASUS ROG Strix G18, on the other hand, boasts a more robust processor and a higher 240Hz refresh rate, which is ideal for intensive gaming and engineering tasks. However, it's bulkier and has a shorter battery life, which might not be ideal if you're often on the move. Consider the Lenovo for better battery life and portability, and the ASUS for superior performance in a larger, more power-hungry package. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | March 2023
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
