For intensive tasks and gaming, the ASUS ROG Strix G18, with its high-end graphics and processor, excels in performance, at the tradeoff of higher cost and less portability due to its size and weight. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15 offers respectable performance for general use and moderate gaming at a more affordable price, and is lighter and easier to carry. If budget is a concern and your activities do not require top-tier specs, the HP Victus 15 is suitable, but for maximum performance for tasks like 3D rendering, the ASUS is superior, provided you're okay with the added expense and reduced mobility. NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | March 2023
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."

Rtings

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
