The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers top performance for 3D, machine learning, and engineering tasks, with a high-end processor and robust graphics card, but it's heavier and less portable. Contrastingly, the MSI Prestige 15 is more portable due to its lighter weight and longer battery life; it is better for general use and comes at a lower price, but is less suited for intensive gaming or demanding professional software. If portability and budget are your priorities, consider the MSI, but if performance in computing-intensive tasks is crucial, the ASUS will serve you better. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for gaming and AI, while the MSI Prestige 15 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 outperforms in gaming and 3D due to its superior graphics card, the Nvidia RTX 4060, and a high screen refresh rate of 240Hz, enabling smoother visuals and better performance in fast-paced scenarios. In comparison, the MSI Prestige 15, with its Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q graphics card and a lower screen refresh rate of 60Hz, offers fair performance, sufficient for less demanding gaming and 3D tasks but not optimized for high-level gameplay or professional 3D work.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a better screen than the MSI Prestige 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 has a high-resolution, bright display which makes it excellent for general use and detail-oriented tasks like engineering, with wide color gamuts that ensure precise color representation crucial for design work. However, its lower refresh rate makes it less suited for the fast-paced visual demands of gaming and 3D applications. In contrast, the MSI Prestige 15, while also having a good resolution and satisfactory brightness for daily tasks and sufficient color accuracy for professional design and engineering, falls short for gaming and 3D use due to its lower refresh rate, which can result in less fluid visuals in those scenarios.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 and MSI Prestige 15 are both good for general use.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17, with its superior AMD CPU and high-refresh-rate screen, excels in performance, making it great for general use that demands quick response times and heavy multitasking; however, its larger size and weight compromise portability and it has shorter battery life. The MSI Prestige 15, while it has a lighter build and longer battery life which enhance its portability for general use, offers a lower-tier CPU and standard screen refresh rate, hence it might not be as suitable for highly demanding tasks but is more convenient for on-the-go use.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the MSI Prestige 15 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The MSI Prestige 15 offers a dazzling 4K image quality, and solid performance. The MSI Prestige 15 appears to consistently implement the guiding principle of throttling the solid and efficient hardware to such an extent that content creation succeeds perfectly. Performance-hungry tasks, on the other hand, are slowed down a little by the reduced power consumption. Conversely, this means that the case remains relatively cool and the dual fan subdued. The battery life also benefits somewhat. So the losses aren't really dramatic because full performance is still available for short bursts."
