The ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers high performance for gaming, 3D rendering and machine learning tasks due to its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU. It also has a large 17.3-inch display and a high refresh rate, which is great for fast-paced games. However, it is heavier and has less battery life, making it less portable than the MSI Prestige 14. On the other hand, the MSI Prestige 14 is more portable with better battery life and a lighter weight, but has less powerful integrated graphics, making it less suited for intensive tasks but still capable for general use and less demanding engineering work. The MSI is also more affordable, but with less storage capacity than the ASUS. Both laptops have backlit keyboards, but the ASUS has customizable RGB lighting while the MSI has white lighting. Choose the ASUS if performance and gaming are your priorities, or the MSI if portability and price are more important. Give Feedback

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for gaming and AI, while the MSI Prestige 14 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is highly suitable for gaming and 3D tasks due to its powerful Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU and a high screen refresh rate of 240Hz, while the MSI Prestige 14's fair performance in the same areas is limited by its Intel Iris Xe graphics and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Although the MSI Prestige 14 may offer benefits in portability and battery life, for demanding gaming and 3D applications, the ASUS's superior GPU and faster screen provide a significantly enhanced experience.

The ASUS ROG Strix G17 is very good for engineering and design, while the MSI Prestige 14 is good.
The ASUS ROG Strix G17 stands out for engineering and design use because it has a high-performance AMD Ryzen processor and an advanced Nvidia RTX GPU, along with a superior screen size and higher resolution, which is ideal for intensive tasks and detailed work. The MSI Prestige 14 offers good capabilities for such tasks with competent Intel CPU and integrated graphics, plus it's more portable with a lighter weight and better battery life, but it may not handle heavy workloads as well as the Strix G17 and has a smaller, lower resolution screen.

For general use, the ASUS ROG Strix G17 offers a sharp, bright display with excellent colors, making it pleasing for everyday tasks and media consumption. In engineering and design, the same display benefits from wide color gamuts, which ensures accurate color representation crucial for detailed work. How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the MSI Prestige 14 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The MSI Prestige 14” is excellent for productivity and business use cases, but it is not ideal for creators or visual content editors. The Prestige was able to power through days of email, spreadsheets, and text documents without breaking a sweat and was a joy to use. The additional ports were a breath of fresh air, as most laptops seem to be moving towards just Thunderbolt ports. The security options made signing in effortless, with two quick, more secure, and faster options than even the most complex alphanumeric passcode."
