If you prioritize performance for gaming or engineering software, the ASUS ROG Strix G17, with its powerful AMD Ryzen processor and Nvidia graphics card, would be the better choice. However, the LG Gram 17 offers a significantly longer battery life and a much lighter design, which makes it ideal for users who need portability and general use without the need for intensive 3D rendering or machine learning tasks. Both laptops share a similar price point and screen size, but the LG Gram excels in its lighter weight and longer battery life, whereas the ASUS excels in performance for more demanding applications. How the ASUS ROG Strix G17 and the LG Gram 17 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
"The LG Gram 17 is a light office laptop with a large display and great battery life. The newest incarnation of the Gram 17 can be classified as a model update. LG uses the predecessor's compact, light magnesium case along with an identical port configuration (including 2x Thunderbolt 4) and keyboard. Changes can be found in the hardware. With the Gram 17 (2022), LG offers a light (approx. 1,350 g), mobile work device - and finally with a matte display."
